Would like to know if the rhubarb plant will come back next year if it has gone to seed this year...looks very woody...

This is the tarter type, guessing green....not the red which seems to be ok

Yes, it will be fine.  Rhubarb is herbaceous, it dies back to the ground each year. Only the flower stalks get woody looking but they're hollow.  The only reason to remove the flower stalks is to save the plant from expending that much energy and extend its productive season.

I was already told to remove the flower all the way down to the bottom. I think rhubarb is all tart................my hubby loves it raw...........too bitter for me.  My neighbor cooks it with strawberries & a little sugar or splenda.
