We bought 2 st. john's wort mystical orange bushes last August.  I think one has died and one is trying to grow from the ground up.  Is this how they initiate spring growth?  Should I prune or dig them up and take them back to the nursery for a refund?  They are planted near the Mississippi River close to the borders of Iowa and Wisconsin.

Thank you!

Mary

You don't want to prune it until the bush is at least 2 1/2 to 3 yrs old.  Anytime sooner, and it will die of shock. -Birdy
It grows zone 3 to 8, we had a very bad winter.  Grows in partial sun to partial shade.  Grows in light, warm and sandy soil.  I would be very upset to have 1 die off in the winter.  Maybe dig that up and take the other one back, they usually are guaranteed to survive.............they grow 3 ft tall.
