I run a small gardening business.  One of my clients had a passion flower growing down on the ground.  Nothing had been done with it for a long time.  I tried to cut it back but the vines broke off in my hands.  A little of it was left so I got a small trellis and attached the vine.  It doesn't look good, and I'm wondering what else I can do to help it.  Does it grow on new wood or old?

If it's a healthy plant then you could cut it back to the ground and it would sprout new growth quickly. Longer stems will sprout new growth from the nodes - right where a leaf is attached to the vine.  Where is the plant located?  Passilfora grows rapidly in warm weather but I don't know how fast it will produce new growth in winter.  If it seems to stay dormant you should definitely wait for mid-spring before declaring it dead.
