Just simply had prune. Bradford pears are fast growing and tend to break easy when mature from winds. Consider other shade trees if you are in the planting stage.

Just keep trimming the shoots.....don't use poison.....you can plant creeping myrtle.  You will get shoots for a long time before it dies off.

I live in Austin Texas. Three years ago I planted a bradford Pear in my yard. Just this year it has begun to take off and grow. It is also producing many sprouts or shoots coming up from the roots. What if anything do I need to do? Can they be prevented to save the energy for the main tree?

Thank you
