How long do tulips need to be left aftetr blooming, before cutting them back?

Do not cut them off until they are completely dry.  The leaves will lay down and not look bad.  If blossom stems are standing up you can clip them off.  But let the leaves gather all the energy they can for next year's blooms.
I don't cut them back, the sun gives the bulb energy to divide in the winter.  I just leave them alone.
