I live in NW Washington, house faces Westerly. Where is the best place to plant a hydrangea?

My front yard faces west and gets afternoon sun.  My back yard gets morning sun but has limited space. I have a blue mopcap hydrangea and received the plant as a gift. I have read that morning sun and afternoon shade are best for this kind of plant, but they can also thrive in all day sun if it is not too hot.  But can find nothing specific guide where to place the plant.

I also live in NW Washington state and have three hydrangea's planted. the one that does the best is the one on the western side of the house, planted up against the wall. it is somewhat sheltered from the wind, gets a lot of sun, and very little water, It blooms a lot. the second best one is against a fence with western sun, but it gets shade about half the day and more water.  the least effective one is close to the leland cypress and in the shade alot.
