PUT A TOOTH PICK OR SIMILAR INTO EACH SIDE JUST ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE SEED IN A CUP OF WATER.  KEEP THE WATER LEVEL AT 1/2 THE HEIGHT OF THE PIT.  IN A VERY SHORT TIME YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF ROOT.  LET THAT GROW SO IT IS SUFFICIENT FOR PLANTING THEN PLANT IN GOOD POTTING SOIL AND KEEP MOIST BUT NOT WET.  KEEP IN THE SUN.  PURS WAS 12 FEET TALL WITHIN 3 MONTHS AND HAD TO BE TRANSPLANTED OUT DOORS.  REALLY SIMPLE

Take the pit out of the avocado and clean it off. Next, insert 3 tooth picks 1/4 inch in evenly around middle pointing outwards. then, put the pit over a small cup or bowl filled with water so the pit is balenced over the cup half submerged. Plant the pit when the avocado plant is 1/2 inch big.

I did this 2 years ago and my avocado plant is 5 feet tall!
