How do I manicure my artichoke after season?

Hello fellow green thumbs,

I have had my first successful season of artichokes, one single stalk managed to grow over 24 artichokes! Now that season is over I let a few of the artichokes fully bloom into huge gorgeous purple flowers and now that they're fully grown out how should I proceed with the stalk? Should I pull the stalk out because it has already produced it's fruit and I need to restart a new stalk or do I cut it back and let it grow again next season?
