Past fall, my 4 year old son found a gernimated seed of an oak tree. We planted it, and it quickly became a 6 inch little tree. It stopped growing becasue the pot was small, but the leaves stayed green. A couple of weeks ago we moved it to a bigger pot and put it outside. The tree has still not grown and the tops leaves (has 7 leaves total) have started to turn dry. We used potting soil from RONA for the new pot. We water the tree frequently. Does  anyone have ideas on how to save the little tree? We are hoping to have it grow to a big tree for my son to see throughout his life.

I would take it out of the pot and plant it where you want it to grow, put a little fence around it to protect it from being walked on or mowed down.  That way the excess water would run out and it would get the natural rain.  Lime about 18 inches around it and use some cow or horse manure in the fall.  Don't plant it close to the house as the grow tall & mighty.  Don't plant near pipes, drainfields, septic, cell pools, garages or walls.  These mightly oaks grow tall & wide........I would not plant that within 100 ft of a home, barn or another structure.
