Is it ok to mix cedar needles in with the soil around my tomatoes?

We have large cedar trees in our yard and huges piles of cedar needles. I have heard that they are acidic and am wondering if I can use them in the soil around my tomato plants? I am growing Beefsteak and Roma tomatoes if that makes any difference.
