I have gourds growing for birdhouses, but unsure when to harvest.  Some are very large already.

If they are large enough for you to make a birdhouse............take one off and let it dry out hanging from the porch or someplace that it can dry out.....you could let the rest go for a little while longer to make larger ones......good luck with this project.
