something is eating my rhododendrom, insect no deer. What can I use?

I noticed in early spring that the leaves are turning brown and now you see that most leaves show sign that something is eating / munching on almost all the leaves. I did turn them to see if I could find the insect but none seen . Your suggestion!

Try Safers Insecticidal soap.  That usually gets rid of most buggars safely and harmlessly for me.  Check your soul for slugs and grubs.  A little rung of ash may help deter any creepy crawleys

after the sun goes down have ready 1 teasp liquid hand soap & 1 qt water and mix & spray......you also could put a couple of drops of hot sauce in it............deer do not like irish spring cake soap......I hang them around my fruit trees and that keeps the night deer away..........they will eat your plant all the way down..................
